Car enthusiasts from across the globe await the most important auto show of the year. In Switzerland at the Geneva Motor show on March 5th, Bentley plans to release “the future of coachbuilding” when they unveil their Bentley Mulliner Bacalar. The car is supposed to represent “grand touring at its most exhilarating”. The 100th year anniversary design draws inspiration from the EXP 100 GT, featuring a brand new wheel design, and a paint scheme inspired by the world-famous Bacalar “Lagoon of Seven Colours”.
Located on the most southeastern tip of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula lies Laguna Bacalar, a location so breathtaking it’s earned the moniker of being Mexico’s Maldives. Seven different hues of turquoise run through the crystal water that edge an endless coastline here in Mexico’s awe-inspiring beach town. There’s no wonder why Bentley would choose to so appropriately name and design their car after a location as stunning and unforgettable as Bacalar.
The name Bacalar just rolls off of the tongue beautifully, and now car goers from across the world will relate Bentley’s newest project synonymously with Mexico’s most coveted little town. Like Bacalar, Bentley is well known, yet the company still maintains a sense of seclusion, wonder, and luxury, similar to that of the place where Canadians and Americans ex-pats have begun to retire and purchase vacation homes. The correlation between Bentley’s “beautiful yet dramatic” design so fittingly details what it means to visit Bacalar, a blend of beauty and drama.
