In the last year, Bacalar has grown in hotel rooms, given that around 700 new rooms have been built during this period to meet the demand that this tourist destination of the southern region of the state demands today, while in Chetumal there haven’t been any new lodging centers registered in several years.
The president of Hotels and Motels in Chetumal, Deborah Angulo Villanueva, acknowledged that the capital has lagged behind the growth of hotel infrastructure, although she mentioned that about 100 rooms have been improved to have a better classification and customer service.
He pointed out that the tourism growth that Bacalar presents in the last 5 years has generated a great demand for rooms, so 700 rooms have been created that are still insufficient to accommodate all the visitors who arrive at the place during the holiday periods.
