The International Airport of Chetumal , belonging to the Network of Airports and Auxiliary Services (ASA), mobilized 152,797 passengers during the first five months of 2019, a figure higher by 16.9% to the 130,669 passengers transferred in the same period of 2018
In a statement, the federal agency said that cargo handling was 621 thousand 314 kilograms, record higher by 81.8% to 341 thousand 806 kilograms reported from January to May last year.
According to a report provided by the agency, in the first five months of the year, one million 375 thousand 63 people were mobilized in the ASA Network, 12.9% more than the one million 217 thousand 840 passengers in 2018 in the same period.
The airports that stand out in the movement of passengers are Tepic, with 31.1%; Puerto Escondido, 30.6%; Loreto, 25.7%; Colima, 17.2%; Chetumal, 16.9%; Matamoros, 15.9%; Puebla, 15.7%; Nuevo Laredo, 15.5%; Ciudad del Carmen, 8.2%, and Ciudad Obregón, with 4.5%.
In terms of cargo, the volume mobilized from January to May 2019 amounted to one million 976 thousand 697 kilograms, 35.3% more than in 2018, highlighting in this section the airports of Matamoros, with 210%; Chetumal, 81.8%; Ixtepec, 45.9%; Puerto Escondido, 32.1%; Ciudad del Carmen, 17.5%; Poza Rica, 17.4%; Campeche, 15.4%, and Ciudad Obregón, with 4.2%.
In the same period, air operations grew 3%. The increases were registered in Matamoros, with 25.9%; Ixtepec, 19.3%; Puerto Escondido, 17.9%; Ciudad del Carmen , 8.5%; Tepic, 8%; Uruapan, 6.9%, and Poza Rica, with 4.6%.
