RAPIDS
One of the main attractions of the Bacalar Lagoon, is the area known as the rapids. It’s a natural narrow channel of approximately 300 meters long by just over 5 meters wide. The rapids are crystal clear waters with blue tonalities. Located north of town, this unique site formed in the middle of vegetation, making it an unparalleled natural scenario.
SPORTS
Lake Bacalar offers a whole variety of different water sports that you can choose from. You can kayak, paddle board, kite surf, wake board, jet ski, swim and sail.
CHINCHORRO BANKS
As the largest coral atoll in the northern hemisphere, Banco Chinchorro was named a Biosphere Reserve in 1996. It’s the highest level of ecological protection o ered by the Mexican government. Banco Chinchorro is home to nine shipwrecks, including two Spanish Galleons, healthy coral reefs and excellent drift diving.
BIRDWATCHING
Bacalar o ers birdwatchers some of the most colorful birds in the area. While sitting on your terrace you can spot a variety of birds. Depending on the season, you can wake early in the morning to the sound and sight of a flock of green parrots. The surrounding trees provide lots of food and shelter for our feathery friends.
