10 Must-See Destinations to Visit in 2019

Traveling the globe has never been so easy. Airlines offer longer, cheaper flights that can take you almost anywhere quickly. With hundreds of options, where does one even begin? Many of us often hear about the popular, frequently visited countries. But, what about those that have yet to be discovered.  Booking.com has compiled a list of the top 10 must-see destinations for 2019. Some of which you may never have expected, and others may be completely new to you. 

A small town located in the Caucasus Mountains at an elevation of 1,500 meters, this is the perfect getaway for active travelers who love to hike. 
Because of government-sponsored tourism, Mestia has recently become a much more accessible travel destination. 

Kigali, Rwanda

Kigali is the capital of Rwanda and it’s nestled amongst many hills, valleys and ridges. Hence, this city has been given the nickname, “The Land of a Thousand Hills.” In Volcanoes National Park, you can spot wild mountain gorillas. Kigali is one of the few places in the world where this is possible. 
Another great adventure can be experienced as a safari through Akagera National Park. Kigali is also known as one of the safest cities in Africa. 

Bacalar, Mexico

According to Booking.com, Bacalar is on par to become the next Maldives. 
With its breathtaking Lagoon of Seven Colours, Bacalar is a town worth the visit. It’s also home for some of the oldest organisms in the world. And during the 17th and 18th centuries, this small town served as an outpost for pirates. 

Ouarzazate, Morocco

Located near the Atlas Mountains, the town of Ouarzazate is known as the gateway to the Sahara. 
Lonely Planet has dubbed this town town the “ideal launching pad for mountains, desert and gorges.” 

Leeuwarden, Netherlands

This town earned the honor as the European Capital of Culture for 2018. Booking.com says Leeuwarden offers the feel and charm of a laid-back Dutch town. 
It’s quite easy to explore Leeuwarden on bicycle. Some of the noteworthy features include a leaning tower resembling Pisa, the Fries Museum, and a great bar and restaurant scene. 

Ksamil, Albania

Could you have guessed that Ksamil was known for it pristine beaches and clear blue waters? If not, take a look at some photos, you are sure to be impressed. Ksamil is located along the Albanian Riviera. It’s a quiet and peaceful village with three nearby islands, that can all be spotted from shore. 
Tourists who traveled there via Booking.com, said they loved the town for its seafood, beach location, and friendly people. 

Wadi Rum, Jordan

Located in the middle-eastern desert, Wadi Rum has been used as the location to film movies like; “The Martian,” and “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” 
Wadi Rum is known for its picturesque sunsets and incredible stargazing, which brings visitors from all around the globe. 

Nusa Penida, Indonesia

When most people hear Indonesian islands, their mind takes them to Bali. The popular island attracts seven million tourists a year. 
Nusa Penida is less visited than Bali, yet it’s a quieter alternative that offers incredible snorkelling, beaches, and nature. 

Samarkand, Uzbekistan

According to Booking.com, Samarkand is one of the most prosperous stops on the old Silk Road. For hundreds of years, this town has been at the center of world cultures. 
Visitors come from all over come to see Registan Square, which is covered in intricate mosaics. There are also several monuments to enjoy amidst the town’s medieval architecture. 

Palomino, Colombia

A lesser-known city of Colombia is Palomino. Like many of Columbia’s beaches, this city also boasts some gorgeous beaches that are perfect for surfing and wildlife spotting. 
Booking.com recommends tubing down the Palomino River. It’s a gentle ride that takes you downriver and out into the Caribbean Ocean.
